Abstract

On a recent weekend in Somerset, my daughter, Terry, told me the good news that my beautiful granddaughter, Lauren, has decided to become a psychiatrist instead of a fat-kitten commercial lawyer. Her choice of psychiatry owes much to my daughter's complaint that her own profession, clinical psychology, is very much undervalued in the NHS.
