Abstract
Purpose: The speed or rate of weight loss (RWL) after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass has not been previously described. Reports have suggested a detrimental effect of rapid weight loss. The objective of this study was to describe the rate of loss of weight after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGBP) and assess the effect this rate on quality of life (QOL), comorbidities and excess weight loss after LRYGBP.
