Abstract

Recent advances in the field of power electronics have made PMBLDC motors very popular. They are being used in many applications because they possess certain desirable features as compared to brushed DC motor and servo motors. This paper presents speed control of PMBLDC motor in sensorless mode of operation using indirect Back-EMF detection. The Back-EMF estimation is done indirectly using the line voltage difference method to obtain the exact commutation instants of current. In this paper, a Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is employed for speed control of PMBLDC motor which is running in sensorless mode of operation is becoming increasingly popular due to various problems associated with Hall sensors. The proposed Fuzzy Logic-based speed controller allows better speed control of motor as compared to PI speed controller, especially with varying load conditions.
