Abstract

In this paper, speed control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) drive based on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) observer is proposed. Implementation of space vector modulation is also presented. The proposed control scheme is studied and implemented through simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software environment on a 0.9 kW interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. In this control technique, design of MRAS observer is based on mathematical model of the machine for estimation of speed and position. The stability is guaranteed through Popov hyper stability and integral inequality theory. The simulation results confirm the validity of the speed tracking capability and convergence in estimating the actual speed and position.
