Abstract

Frequency spectrum is a limited resource and has to be used efficiently. Cognitive radios aiming to increase the efficiency of the spectrum can sense their environment, detect the spectrum holes and allocate the unlicensed users into the detected spectrum holes without any interference to licensed users' communications. Energy detection is one of the commonly used methods in the literature to sense the spectrum holes. This paper focuses on spectrum sensing using energy detection method in Cognitive Radio based systems. Some multiple antenna techniques are proposed to increase the performance and some simulation results are analyzed.
