Abstract

AbstractIn this chapter, the power and spectrum allocation are improved jointly to increase demand-side communication quality and lower utility costs in smart grid. First, we model a electricity cost based on regulation errors caused by direct load control. Following that, the sub-bands are assigned to various data aggregator units (DAUs) based on band confidence levels and the utility company’s maximum cost. We present an algorithm to optimize relay transmission power and refine the spectrum allocation to reduce the cost of utility companies. Numerical results show that the packet loss rate and cost of utility companies can be significantly reduced.
