Abstract We present the redshifts, energy distributions, and some of the spectral parameters of 35 quasistellar objects. Thirty-four belong to the Medium Bright QSO Sample (B<=19 and z <2.2) in the South Galactic Pole [Campusano, A&A (1991) (in press)] and were primarily observed with the 2.5 m du Pont telescope of the Las Campanas Observatory. Thirty-one of them come from the Cerro El Roble UVX search {Campusano & Torres [AJ, 88, 1304(1983)]}, three from the objective-prism search of Clowes & Savage [MNRAS, 204,365 (1983)], and one from an unpublished grism search conducted with the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory 4 m telescope {see Campusano & Torres [Astronomy with Schmidt-Type Telescopes (1984)]}. This work contains the discovery report for the grism-selected QSO 00539-2805 and the confirmatory spectroscopy for 28 of the 35 quasistellar objects. In the available cases, our redshift and equivalent width determinations were found to agree well with previous measurements. The equivalent width and FWHM distributions for the strong emission lines of our sample are examined and compared with similar previous data. Only the FWHM distribution for the [C III] line seems to differ from a comparison one and is suggestive of a luminosity effect. The C IV 1549 line is found to be blueshifted with respect to Lα by ~600+/-200 km/s. The C IV line strengths appear to follow the Baldwin relation with a slope close to Baldwin's [ApJ, 214, 679 (1977)] original value.
