Abstract
Particle-gamma angular correlation measurements on the 36S(α, nγ) 39Ar and 38Ar(d, pγ) 39Ar reactions and DSA lifetime measurements with the (α, nγ) reaction have been performed at bombarding energies of E a = 6.0, 6.6 and 7.8 MeV and E d = 4.4 MeV. Unambiguous spin and parity assignments of 3 2 +, 5 2 −, 3 2 −, 7 2 −, 3 2 −, 5 2 − and 3 2 − were made for the E x = 1.52, 2.09, 2.43, 2.48, 2.63, 2.76 and 3.27 MeV levels, respectively. In addition precise excitation energies and γ-ray branching ratios, mixing ratios and mean lives were determined for levels below 3.6 MeV.
