Abstract
Near-ultraviolet irradiation of tetrakis(1-norbornyl)chromium(IV) yields homolytic cleavage of the metalalkyl bond as the result of a ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) transition. Ligand field excited states appear not to be photoactive.
