Abstract
p-aminophenol, N-methyl p-aminophenol sulfate, p-phenylene diamine, 2,4-diaminophenol hydrochloride and pyrogallol are used as photographic developer. These compounds are easily oxidized in the presence of air, in solution as well as in pure solid form. The effects of reverse micelle on these compounds have been studied to investigate their stability and interactions such as H-bond formation in the reverse micellar core. Preferential interaction of –NH 2 group over –OH group with the interface of reverse micelle has also been observed. Effects of pH and salt on these compounds in the reverse micellar core have been investigated.
