Abstract

Abstract A spectroscopic study performed on Eu(III) and Tb(III) complexes dispersed on polysiloxane sol–gel glasses is reported. The complexes tris[(4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenilbutanedionate)(ortho-phenanthroline-N-oxide)]europium(III): [Eu(btfa)3-o-phenNO]; tris[(4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenilbutanedionate)(ortho-phenanthroline-N-oxide)]terbium(III): [Tb(btfa)3-o-phenNO] and tris(2,6-pyridinecarboxylic acid)terbium(III): [Tb(DPA)3] were employed to produce the doped sol–gel glasses. It is verified that the amount of complex employed, the complex itself, the tridimensional siloxane network, as well as the exciting radiation wavelength, can affect the color of the prepared glasses, and so, be controlled in order to produce a desired emission.
