Abstract

The assignments of FTIR and Raman spectra of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVOH) and four ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymers 72, 59, 44, and 32mole% of ethylene group, has been performed by in-situ measurements and deconvolution analysis. By comparing with the spectra of high-density polyethylene, the bands in the region of 1000_??_1200cm-1 was classified into the C-C and C-O stretching vibrations. It was found that the C-C stretching vibration of PVOH and EVOH copolymers is affected significantly by disordered distribution of hydroxy group and crystallinity.
