Abstract

Single crystals of a europium complex with β-alaninehydroxamic acid were obtained and analysed by X-ray diffraction. Well resolved absorption, optical emission and excitation spectra down to 4 K are reported. The temperature dependence of individual terms was determined, and the nature of the changes observed is briefly discussed. The head of the paper is devoted to the electron–fonon coupling and co-operative interaction of pair of ions in a dimer. Assignments of vibronic transitions are proposed on the basis IR data. Spectroscopic characteristics of the title compound are related to the crystal structure and compared to corresponding data for europium α-derivatives (l and dl) [1, 2].
