Abstract

The spectroscopic properties of Cr2+ ions in a range of cubic Zn1-xMnxSe (x = 0–0.4) solid solutions were investigated. An almost linear decrease in 5E level energy was observed, resulting in both absorption and fluorescence maxima shifts of approximately 30 cm−1 per 10 % of Mn. The temperature dependence of Cr2+ ion decay time was studied, and an increase in nonradiative quenching rate was revealed when Mn concentration (x) increased. The position of the Cr2+ ions zero-phonon line (about 4871 cm−1) in the Zn1-xMnxSe (x = 0.4) crystal was determined.
