Abstract

AgNO3 doped bismuth silicate glasses were prepared by traditional melt quenching techniques. UV-Vis absorption spectra used to study the optical properties of prepared samples. Absorption spectrum shows 479nm peak due to lower valance of bismuth ion that is Bi2+ or Bi0 Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). Optical band gap from Tauc plot gives the idea about localized states formation near to valance band and conduction band by the addition of AgNO3. The 570nm absorption peak in 5LBSAg0.5 is due to silver nano particle. Most of the silver formed as silver oxide that can be seen in Raman spectra. The Bi2O3 can exist both BiO3 and BiO6 unit. The photoluminescence spectra give two main peaks at 435nm and 630nm due to Bi3+ and Bi2+ respectively. The CIE color coordinates (x, y), color purity (CP) and correlated color temperature (CCT) are calculated for all the samples.
