Abstract

Three mixed oxides of composition Ba 2LnSnO 5.5, with Ln=Y,Dy,Ho, were prepared by solid state reactions. These materials, which present a complex cubic perovskite structure, have been reported as very good ceramic substrates for different high T c superconducting materials. They were characterized by means of infrared and 119Sn-Mössbauer spectroscopy. The analysis of the Mössbauer spectra showed a partial disorder in the distribution of the Ln(III) and Sn(IV) cations. Some comparisons with the spectroscopic behaviour of other related materials are made.
