Abstract
A new series of white light emitting lead telluro-fluoroborate glasses (xDPTFB) doped with varying concentrations of Dy3+ ions have been prepared and their spectroscopic behavior were studied through optical absorption and photoluminescence measurements. The Judd-Ofelt (JO) intensity parameters Ωλ (λ=2,4 and 6) have been determined from the absorption spectra and the impact of the6H15/2→6F11/2 hypersensitive transition on the Ω2 intensity parameter values were discussed and reported. By using the JO intensity parameters various radiative properties such as transition probability (A), branching ratio (βR) and stimulated emission cross-section (σpE) have been calculated. The white light can be tuned by varying the concentration of the dopant ion and the excitation wavelength and in the present work the (x, y) color coordinates for all the prepared glasses are found to lie in the white light region.
