Abstract

Starting from some of the known properties of continued fractions and power series expansions, spectroscopic Green's functions may be recast into continued fractions. Since the algorithm so developed does not depend upon the well-known projection operator technique, it is possible to rewrite spectral functions that have been obtained by empiricism into forms that closely parallel theoretical results. Thus phenomenological parameters can be readily given microscopic interpretations.
