Abstract

Didodecyldithio-oxamide reacts with palladium in strong hydrochloric acid solutions to form a yellow water-insoluble complex which can be extracted into chloroform. Optimum conditions for the use of the reagent have been studied. Tolerance limits for other platinum group elements and selected base metals have been determined. The procedure has been successfully applied to the determination of palladium in the presence of high concentrations of diverse ions. The sensitivity of the reaction is 0.005 μg cm 2 .
