Abstract
A simple method is described for the rapid spectrophotometric determination of nickel with biacetyl bis(4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone). The yellow color is measured at 460 nm (ϵ = 22,800 liters mol −1 cm −1) against a reagent blank at pH 2.5 in a solution containing 60% ( v v ) dimethylformamide. Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0.2–2 ppm of nickel.
