Abstract

Ampicillin trihydrate (12.5–750 μg) is determined spectrophotometrically using chloranil as π-acceptor at pH 9. The method is relatively accurate (with a recovery of 100 ± 1.0%) and precise (RSD ⩽ 1.7%) and can be used successfully for capsules and ampoules.
