Abstract

A new spectrophotometric method has been developed for the microdetermination of ferbam by the formation of its copper complex, i.e., copper dimethyldithiocarbamate, which is made water soluble by adding the nonionic surfactant, Triton X-100 (TX-100). The complex absorbs strongly at 430 nm. Beers's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.5-15.3 ppm. The optimum conditions have been developed. The method is simple, rapid, sensitive. It involves no extraction and can be safely employed for the determination of ferbam in commercial formulations, vegetables and grains.
