Abstract

AbstractA comparative study of the reaction of o‐chloro‐, m‐chloro‐, p‐chloro‐, p‐bromo‐ and p‐iodophenylazo‐chromotropic acids with dioxovanadium (V) ion have shown that 1:1 and 1:2 violet water soluble complexes were formed at pH 4.5. The p‐halogeno‐derivatives were found to be very suitable reagents for spectrophotometric determination of VO+2 up to 8 ppm. The application of these dyes as indicators in the spectrophotometric titration of VO+2 with EDTA and the interference of a various cations and anions were reported.
