Abstract
A simple, precise, rаpid, аccurate, sensitive and economical method was developed for the determination of Cefixime trihydrate (CFX). The oxidative coupling reaction with Amino Phenazone (APh) is used in this method, by using Sodium periodate as an oxidizing agent. The formed complex in aqueous solution was measured at 524 nm. The effects of the analytical parameters are investigated. The validity of the method was conducted in accordance with the guidelines for the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). Beer–Lambert law was obeyed in the 5–60 µg/ml range, with correlation coefficient (R2=0.9977). Molar absorptivity and Sandell index were found to be 3958.5 L.mol−1.cm−1 and 0.1282 µg cm−2 respectively. The average recovery of Cefixime trihydrate CFX was (100.323%). The detection limit was 0.01326 µg ml−1. The proposed method has proven to be efficient for the determination of Cefixime trihydrate CFX, in pharmaceutical formulations and pure form.
