Abstract

Bismuth (0–160 μg) can be determined spectrophotometrically at 486 nm after its extraction as hydrogen tetraiodobismuthate (III) into propylene carbonate. The effects of reagent conditions, ionic strength and diverse ions are reported. The system has been applied to the determination of bismuth in pharmaceutical samples.
