Abstract

The infrared spectra of four isotopic dimethyl ether species, in various physical states have been interpreted between 500 and 50 cm −1. Crystals of three species at 80 °K exhibit in their Raman spectra a few lines related to the torsion vibrations of methyl groups, in agreement with the absorption results. A calculation of the potential barrier from the frequency values was made and earlier work in this field is discussed.
