Abstract

Photoelectron spectra of carbonyl and thiocarbonyl derivatives of triazole and thiazole have been analysed. The influence of exocyclic groups on the nature and the energies of molecular orbitals has been evaluated. The data satisfactorily complete a previously established correlation between the nucleophilic reactivity of thiocarbonyl compounds and ionisation potential of an electron localized in a lone pair of the thiocarbonyl sulfur.
