Abstract

The analysis of the c3Πu–b3Πg system of the radical P2, in particular of the 6–0, 6–1, and 2–3 bands of this system, shows the existence of perturbations in the upper levels ν′ = 2 and 6. These perturbations are shown to be caused by the ν = 2 and 5 levels of the state C1Σu+. The deperturbation is carried out, and the constants of the states c3Πu and b3Πg are calculated. The energetic positions of these states and of the state a3Σu+ are determined. More precise values are obtained for the vibrational constants of the states C1Σu+ and X1Σg+. Most of the perturbations by the ν = 0 to 13 levels of c3Πu observed in C1Σu+ are satisfactorily interpreted. [Journal translation]
