Spectral studies of triple orthovanadates M IBaCr 2(VO 4) 3 having langbeinite structure

Abstract

The i.r. spectra of triple orthovanadates, M IBaCr 2(VO 4) 3 (where, M I = Li, Na or Ag) with orthorhombically distorted langbeinite structure have been obtained in the region 4000-200 cm −1 and are interpreted in terms of the internal vibrations of VO 4 tetrahedra and CrO 6 octahedra. The presence of CrO 6 octahedra is further confirmed using diffused reflectance spectral technique.
