Abstract
The knowledge of spectral reflectance characteristics of earth materials is important in the development of remote sensing technology, and in the analysis and interpretation of remotely sensed data. In the present paper, we have shown the spectral reflectance characteristics of different types of Indian soils in the wavelength range of 450–850 nm. The results have been discussed for the classification of different types of soil surfaces, and for monitoring and assessing the state of soils, using remote sensing data.
