Abstract

Correlation among the electrons and holes depends sensitively on their angular momenta (spins) and, in turn, influences the polarization dependence in the nonlinear optical response of semiconductors. We discuss the properties and spectral features of the two-exciton correlation functions for a one-dimensional semiconductor model, where the mass ratio of electrons and holes becomes important. The knowledge of correlations among excitons is of fundamental interest and required for the proper description of the third-order nonlinear optical response.
