Abstract

The frequency spectrum of a CW dye laser was measured by means of a noise-spectrum analyser as well as with the Utrecht High-Resolution Fourier Interferometer. Neither the lasing frequency, nor the output power was actively stabilised. The effects of “spatial hole burning” and mode interaction in the laser dye-jet as well as a strong influence of cavity alignment and pump-beam power on the dye laser spectrum were established.
