Abstract

This article presents the principles behind the recording of weak optical signals from an impulsive plasma with nanosecond time resolution. A detailed description is given of a method and equipment for high-speed recording and primary analysis of experimental data on the intensity of polarized radiation. A description is given of a spectral-polarimetric system designed for real-time diagnosis of impulsive and quasisteady plasmas. Results are presented from measurements of the radiation of a helium plasma from an impulsive high-voltage plasma-beam discharge. The performance characteristics of the diagnostic system are also evaluated.
