Spectral parameters of Nd 3+ ion in β-Nd 3+:LaSc 3(BO 3) 4 crystal

Abstract

The spectroscopic study of Nd 3+ in β-Nd 3+:LaSc 3(BO 3) 4 crystal has been performed. Based on Judd–Ofelt theory, the spectral parameters were obtained: the parameters of line strengths Ω λ are Ω 2=2.85×10 −20 cm 2, Ω 4=3.69×10 −20 cm 2, Ω 6=4.73×10 −20 cm 2, the radiative lifetime is 226 μs, thus, the quantum efficiency is 49.4%, and the fluorescence branch ratios were calculated: β 1=0.397, β 2=0.499, β 3=0.099.
