Abstract
The current-meson couplings are calculated using a relativistic quark model. It is shown that the couplings of the highly excited pseudoscalar mesons are inversely proportional to the particle mass, whereas couplings of vector and axial-vector mesons are proportional to the masses. Spectral functions obtained from these couplings approximate the quark-parton results and satisfy current-algebra sum rules to the leading order in mass.
