Abstract

Spontaneous endogenous ultraweak luminescence from wheat seeds germinating in the light and darkness (etiolated) reveals emission maxima at 470, 530, 580, 620 and above 660 nm. Chlorophyll-containing seedlings emit predominantly in the red. Fluorescence spectra from seeds, extracts and homogenates in various solvents indicate that the excitation energy transfer may occur which changes the original luminescence.
