Abstract

Spectra of the second harmonic (SH) emission from plasma generated by 35 ps, 1.054 μm laser pulses have been recorded for incident intensities between 10 13 and 10 14 W/cm 2. Blue shifted SH lines are observed throughout, regardless of intensity and polarization (either s or p) of incident ω 0 and emitted 2ω 0 light. The intensity scaling of the blue shift for different incident laser polarization is shown to be consistent with enhanced ponderomotive pressure at oblique incidence due to plasma wave resonance.
