Abstract
Abstract A simple rapid spectrophotofluorometric method for assaying emetine in animal tissues is described. Tissue emetine concentrations have been determined in rats at intervals up to 14 days after single doses of emetine hydrochloride or emetine bismuth iodide: the hydrochloride was administered orally or subcutaneously and the bismuth iodide complex orally. Subcutaneously administered emetine hydrochloride produced the highest concentrations. Given orally, emetine hydrochloride produced higher tissue levels than did emetine bismuth iodide.
