Abstract

The connexions formed in the 1990s between the creative writing class at Victoria University of Wellington, Sport, and Victoria University Press have helped young writers to find publication more easily and quickly than before. This has changed the nature of what is written and the role of the artist, raising the question what “New Zealand literature” means and whether globalisation will remove the distinctive regional and local identity of New Zealand writing.
