Abstract

A weak diffuser is illuminated by an off-axially aberrated wave-front. The diffuser is kept in the paraxial, marginal and least confusion planes of the lens, and the speckle patterns so produced have been photographed. The size, shape and dynamics of the speckles has been explained on the basis of geometrical optical theory of the knife edge test.
