Abstract

Abstract In this paper, a speckle noise suppression method employing time multiplexing in holographic display is proposed. The recorded object is separated into object point groups by pixel separation. For each object point group, some phase-only subcomputer-generated holograms (sub-CGHs) with independent initial random phases are generated. In the reconstruction process, a spatial light modulator (SLM) is used to load the sub-CGHs. The reconstructed image is generated through time multiplexing technology. Meanwhile, the speckle noise of the reconstructed image is reduced effectively by averaging the speckle noise and separating the adjacent image points in space. Compared with the pixel separation method, both simulation and optical experiments are carried out to confirm that the proposed method suppresses the speckle noise effectively with less computation burden.
