Abstract

The article deals with the phenomenon of parental stress in parents of children with normative development and parents of children with disabilities (ASD, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, visual impairment), an analysis of foreign and domestic research on this topic is presented. A theoretical and empirical study revealed the characteristics of parental stress and satisfaction in parents of children with normative development and parents of children with disabilities. A study conducted on 43 parents showed that the level of stress is higher in parents with disabilities. The appearance of a child forces the family to face specific life difficulties, the destabilization of established rules and the disorganization of neuropsychic activity. Also, a specific attitude of the individual to the experience of traumatic parenthood (causing deep feelings) was revealed.
