Abstract
The article indicates the social features of old age that should be taken into account in social work with older adults. These include: family situation, support networks, health condition, housing situation, education and activity of seniors. Accurate social diagnosis of the situation of older people allows us to identify areas of necessary support and determine its scope. The presented diagram indicates the most important areas of an elderly person's life that should be the focus of a social worker's attention. Social work with older people requires a redefinition of entitlements to social assistance benefits, because it is gaining importance as a diagnostic and preventive element
