Abstract

This paper addresses empirically the issues of homogeneity in prices, adjustment lag structure, and appropriate income response of the import demand function in developing economies. As part of the research process, the effectiveness of currency devaluation as an instrument for dealing with continuing balance of payments crisis is examined. Quarterly data from the developing economies of Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailandwere used. [421]
