Abstract

The nomenclature and classification of specific pruritic dermatoses of pregnancy have remained confused and disputed all along. It is not until 2006 that a rationalized classification system was proposed and they were classified into pemphigoid gestationis, polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, atopic eruption of pregnancy and intrahepatie cholestasis of pregnancy. This article addresses the advances in classification, characterization of clinical manifestations (including the time of onset during pregnancy), laboratory examination, pathology, differential diagnosis, impact on fetus and management of specific pruritic dermatoses of pregnancy. Key words: Pregnancy complications; Skin manifestations; Skin diseases; Prurigo
