Abstract

Copper(II) chloride complexes with bis(3,5-dimethyl-4-iodopyrazol-1-yl)methane (L) with a composition of CuLCl2 (1), [Cu2(fu2-C1)2L2(H2O)2]C12-2(CH2)2CO (2), and [Cu3(fu2-C1)6L2]-(CH3)2CO (3) are synthesized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction is used to determine the molecular and crystal structures of these compounds. In the structures of compounds 2 and 3, shortened non-valent ICl contacts with a length of 3.222(1)-3.439(2) A are found. They involve uncoordinated and coordinated chloride ions and iodine atoms of organic ligands.
