Abstract

The hydroxyl properties of HY zeolites progressively exchanged with alkali—metal cations have been studied in connection with 2-propanol dehydration. Infra-red studies show that the integrated band intensities, the wavenumber and the acid strength of OH groups are very specific to each cation. The Li ion induces a high acidic strength which is reflected in a high conversion of 2-propanol.
