Abstract

In this work we present a Eu(III) tris-benzoylacetonate complexes as efficient luminescent chemosensor for gaseous ammonia. It is shown that luminescent and sensor properties of studied samples can be varied by using organic solvents. In dependence of organic solvent type it is possible to create each of one-time-use express sensor systems and continuous monitoring systems. The mechanism of the effect of ammonia vapors on intensification of the Eu(III) luminescence has been suggested using the data of IR spectroscopy and quantum chemistry calculations.
