Abstract
The transition pressure for a monolayer of copoly(λ-benzyl-L-glutamate-L-glutamic acid) is influenced by the pH of the subsolution. Steric hindrance of the side groups in the copolymer seems to be an important factor in the behaviour of the transition pressure. The effects of SCN − and F − ions on the transition pressure have been found to be associated with the change in the water structure surrounding the monolayer of copolymer.
