Abstract

Polygonatum cirrhifolium, Polygonatum multiflorum, and Polygonatum verticillatum are significant medicinal herbs of Himalayas belonging to the genus Polygonatum and component of many formulations of ayurveda. The recent studies on the genus presented its wide range of therapeutic properties leading to its overexploitation and thus making them the endangered medicinal herbs of the Himalayas. The current study is made to discover the complete account of the three important Himalayan species with updated data on their physiological characteristics, pharmacological properties, traditional uses, important phytochemicals, conservation, agri-techniques, biotechnology, and sustainable harvesting.
